Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Limited (TMPVL) has announced a key leadership change in its human resources division, appointing long-time HR leader Sitaram Kandi as Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), effective July 1, 2026.
Kandi will succeed Anjali Byce, who has decided to step down from the role to pursue opportunities outside the company. According to the company, Byce submitted her resignation on May 13 and will continue serving as CHRO until June 30 to ensure a smooth transition.
The appointment was approved by the company’s Board of Directors during its May 14 meeting, following recommendations from the Nomination and Remuneration Committee.
A seasoned HR professional with more than three decades of experience, Kandi has played a significant role in Tata Motors since joining the company in 2019. He previously served as CHRO for the commercial vehicles business and has overseen HR operations across the passenger vehicle and electric vehicle divisions, along with industrial relations and skill development initiatives.
Before joining Tata Motors, Kandi held leadership roles at major global companies including GE, Monsanto, TE Connectivity, and Bosch.
Kandi holds a graduate degree in Mathematics, Economics and Statistics from Osmania University, a master’s degree in Labour Laws and Labour Welfare from Symbiosis International University, and has also completed a Business Analytics programme at Indian Institute of Management Calcutta.
The leadership transition comes at a crucial time for Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles as the company continues expanding its electric vehicle and passenger vehicle operations. TMPVL recently reported strong Q4 FY26 performance, with domestic passenger vehicle sales rising 37.3% year-on-year to 201,800 units, while revenue from the segment grew 49.4% to ₹18,700 crore.
With Tata Motors also maintaining a 40.2% share in India’s EV market during FY26, Kandi’s extensive experience in industrial relations and EV-focused workforce management is expected to support the company’s next phase of growth and transformation.
